Intellectual Property

Intellectual Property is an important, yet often overlooked, part of doing business in the 21st century. At LL&D, we assist our clients with a wide range of intellectual property needs. For clients who have created original works, it is important to ensure those works are properly registered, so the copyright can be enforced against infringing parties. Businesses who have unique names, logos or catch-phrases need registered trademarks or servicemarks to prevent others from taking advantage of the goodwill the business has developed.

Lester, Loving & Davies also has experience providing clients with specialized agreements, such as joint venture agreements, non-disclosure agreements and licensing agreements. We also advise clients on infringement issues, such as Lanham Act violations, trade dress violations and copyright infringement. Often, intellectual property issues arise in the context of misappropriation of trade secrets. LL&D has extensive experience dealing with employment contracts, franchise agreements and non-compete agreements which contain terms relating to the handling of trade secrets.

Patents are a highly specialized area of intellectual property. LL&D maintains a relationship with an attorney in Washington D.C. who specializes in patent practice and is a member of the Patent Bar. That relationship allows LL&D to make available to its clients a full range of intellectual property services.
