Introducing Insurance Commissioner Kim Holland

When he appointed Kim Holland to fill an unexpired term as Commissioner of Insurance, Governor Brad Henry predicted: “Kim Holland will restore integrity and public confidence to the insurance commissioner’s post.” At the time, the Oklahoma Insurance Department had low internal morale and commanded even lower public confidence. In short order, Commissioner Holland did precisely what the Governor had said. She restored public trust and engendered a new ethos of honesty and transparency within the Department.

Before becoming the Commissioner of Insurance, Holland had a long record of success as a businesswoman and as a consumer advocate. She had spent over two decades as an insurance professional. Holland served on the boards of various entities, including the Oklahoma Health Care Authority and the Oklahoma State Employees Benefits Council, and was the former Chair of the Oklahoma Academy for State Goals.

In 2006, Holland successfully ran for a full term as Insurance Commissioner, and became the first woman in Oklahoma ever elected to that office. Her tenure has been marked by Holland’s example of integrity, responsibility and accountability in public office. In words a Rotarian might use, Holland has put into practice the 4-way Test.

Please welcome our guest speaker, Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Kim Holland.
