Scott Pruitt, the special guest speaker of the Rotary Club of Edmond this week, is a multifaceted person. He has practiced law, served as a State Senator, run a professional baseball club, and been heavily involved in his community.

Scott grew up in Kentucky, and earned a baseball scholarship to the University of Kentucky. He attended law school at the University of Tulsa. Upon graduation, he entered the private practice of law, specializing in constitutional law. According to his website, the first case he ever took was to defend the religious liberty of Oklahomans working for the state government.

As a State Senator, Scott led the charge to pass the Religious Freedoms Act. He served as Assistant Republican Floor Leader for four years. He says his main accomplishments as a State Senator include passing pro-life legislation, seeking greater accountability for government spending, championing workers’ compensation reform, and promoting traditional, faith-based values.

Scott has been co-owner and managing general partner of the Oklahoma City Redhawks baseball team, and has led its aggressive marketing campaign. The Redhawks regularly rate among the league’s leaders in attendance and merchandise sales.

Scott and his wife Marilyn have been married for 20 years. They have two children, McKenna and Cade, and live in Broken Arrow. They are members of First Baptist, Broken Arrow, where Pruitt serves as Deacon.

Please welcome Scott Pruitt to the Rotary Club of Edmond.
