Journal of the Rotary Foundation of Brazil Reports on Joint Edmond/Fortaleza Project
The other day while surfing the internet, I happened upon the attached article, and thought you might be interested to see that our friends in Brazil are still talking about the huge difference the Rotary Club of Edmond made in Fortaleza. From the January 2011 edition of the Journal of the Rotary Foundation of Brazil, it is a brief report to all Brazilian Rotarians about our project with the Rotary Club of Fortaleza-Planalto. Here is a rough translation:
Project Peter Pan – District 4490
Our project involved the donation of a vehicle to allow a multidisciplinary team to carry out early diagnosis of children in the countryside, in hopes of avoiding transporting them to the state capital while they are in a fragile condition. Moreover, the many benefits to discovering the cancer in its initial stage in children include facilitating their treatment and increasing their chances of success.
The funds for the project came primarily from donations of the Rotary Club of Edmond, Oklahoma, USA, and were supplemented by funds from our district and the Rotary Foundation. The vehicle we donated was a Fiat Doblô.
Our club is an amazing force for good in Edmond and throughout the world. Thanks for all you do to make those good things happen.

Kickingbird Golf Pro Brian Soerensen To Speak
Our speaker this week is Brian Soerensen, head golf professional at Kickingbird Golf Course. Soerensen will speak about the economic impact the course has on the Edmond economy and the role that golf courses play in fund-raising efforts.
Soerensen has worked at Kickingbird for 14 years. He is a graduate of New Mexico State University in professional golf management, and previously served as assistant pro at Oak Tree.
Please welcome Brian Soerensen to the Rotary Club of Edmond.
