This Week Only, the Meeting Starts at 11:30 at Henderson Hills Baptist Church

 

This week, the Rotary Club of Edmond holds its annual Installation of Officers meeting. According to our Club’s By-laws, the board consists of ten elected members. Listed below are the slots, along with the person filling each position.

 

President – Mike Roark

Past President – Gail Carr

President-Elect – Jay Smith

Secretary – Dan Chavez

Treasurer – Rusty Hale

Sergeant-at-Arms – Jay Buxton

Director for Club Service – Chris Burton

Director for Community Service – Angie Grimmett

Director for International Service – Krista Jones

Director for Vocational Service – Jeff Cato

 

We elected most of these officers and directors last December. Mike Roark was elected a year earlier, and Gail Carr was elected a year before that.

 

Three current board members are rotating off. Larry Smith was a tireless Community Service director. Scott Currie kept us entertained as our Sergeant-at-Arms. Please thank them for their service. It has been my privilege to serve on the board for the last eight years. I am proud of the great things our Rotary Club of Edmond has done, and am especially excited about the even greater things we will accomplish with the guidance of our new leadership.

 

Gail Carr has been a fantastic President of the Rotary Club of Edmond. She has led us to do greater things as we try to fulfill the Rotary Motto of Service Above Self. Please make sure to thank President Gail for her amazing service this past year.

 

Mike Roark, our incoming President, has been a part of the Edmond community for many years. Mike has served professionally with the YMCA for over fourteen years. As you know, his current position is Executive Director over the two Edmond YMCA locations and one branch in Guthrie. Additionally, his YMCA career has included sports, fitness and aquatic director positions for the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas and service as Executive Director for the Midwest City YMCA. He currently serves as president of the Association of YMCA Professionals.

 

Mike is a mentor for the Executive Preparatory Institute for the YMCA, a nationwide program to work with current and future YMCA Executives. Mike and his wife, Kelly, have a daughter, Kennedy, and a son, Bryson.
