Does it seem like a long time since the Rotary Club of Edmond held a regular meeting? It should. The last time our Club met at noon on a Wednesday was in November!
Of course, Edmond Rotarians have been busy. On the first Wednesday of December, we helped out the Salvation Army by ringing bells in Edmond. And we held our annual Christmas Jam on December 14.
Still, I can attest to having missed having regular meetings. My week does not seem complete without seeing all my friends at the Rotary Club of Edmond. But this week we can start the new year afresh by gathering together at Henderson Hills Baptist Church at noon on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, for our first meeting of the year.
It should be a good one. We will have a club assembly, which means we will hear from our four service area directors about what our club has been doing, what it plans to do, and how we can help.
In alphabetical order of our Club’s four service area directorships, our directors are:
Club Service Chris Burton
Community Service Angie Grimmett
International Service Krista Jones
Vocational Service Jeff Cato
As most of you know, I am particularly interested in International Service. But others find Community Service to be their area of interest. Still others may opt for Club Service or Vocational Service. One of the great things about Rotary is there is something for each of us.
I look forward to getting back into the regular Rotary routine, and having the weekly fellowship I’ve missed. If you are a Sooner or a Cowboy, you will have a chance to brag on your favorite team’s performance in Arizona. Or maybe Myron Pope, who has firsthand experience playing for a national championship, will make a prediction about next week’s football game. In any event, make plans to attend the next meeting of the Rotary Club of Edmond on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at noon.
