Do you tweet? Are you a blogger? Do you use social media?
This week at the Rotary Club of Edmond, you will have the opportunity to learn all about new media. Our speaker, Mike Koehler, is president and chief strategist at Smirk New Media, a consulting firm he started in July 2010.
With over 15 years experience in the communications business, Mike is a social media thought leader in how the web creates connections among communities, customers and business. A transformative force in the reporting of digital news at NewsOK.com, Oklahoma’s largest website, Mike trained old-school journalists, newcomers and the community about how best to use social media and other web tools to share, report and enhance the delivery of news and information.
Mike has spoken around the region about social media and was a featured speaker at the 140 Characters Conference in New York City in 2009, the first national conference on the impact of Twitter on business. He served as the new media director at Schnake Turnbo Frank Public Relations, Oklahoma’s largest PR firm, before launching Smirk New Media in 2010.
Smirk New Media has worked with a variety of clients around Oklahoma, including many of the state’s major employers, small businesses and non-profits. One of his clients summarized well what Mike does, stating that he “helped guide us through policy development and integrating social media strategy into our overall marketing efforts.”
Whether you tweet or blog, or you have a hard time figuring out what all those buttons on the telephone do, you will enjoy hearing Mike Koehler this week at the Rotary Club of Edmond.
