biography

In 1991, Loving became Oklahoma’s first female Attorney General. Prior to serving as Attorney General, Loving was First Assistant Attorney General for four years, and was Chief of Legal Services in the Office of Attorney General for several years prior to that.

Loving serves as Managing Partner of the firm, in addition to maintaining her law practice. She also serves as a member of the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board. She is a trained mediator.

Loving served for a number of years on the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma County Bar Association, and as an elected Delegate to the Oklahoma Bar Association. She has served on the Oklahoma Bar Association Task Force on Professionalism and Civility, the OBA Legal Ethics Committee, the Oklahoma County Bar Association Fee Grievance and Ethics Committee, and was a Law Related Education volunteer for many years.  She served on the board of directors of Legal Aid of Western Oklahoma, and later, the Board of Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma, and was a member of the board of the Law and You Foundation for many years. She has been a Master in the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Inn of Court, is a past Chairman of the Oklahoma Bar Association Section on Administrative Law, and in 1998 was Chairman of both the OBA Administration of Justice Committee and the OBA Professional Responsibility Commission. She has been an adjunct professor at the University of Tulsa College of Law and has taught numerous continuing legal education seminars. 

Loving has received a number of prestigious awards including the Oklahoma Bar Association Women in Law Spotlight Award; the Director’s Award of the District Attorneys Association; the ByLiner Award in Law and the Newsmaker Award from the Oklahoma City and Tulsa Chapters of Women in Communication, respectively; the First Friend of Freedom Award from FOI Oklahoma, Inc.; and the Red Ribbon Leadership award of the National Federation of Parents. She was a longtime member of the board of directors of FOI Oklahoma, Inc., and has served on the boards of several other civic organizations, including the Partnership for a Drug Free Oklahoma Media Steering Committee, the Last Frontier Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and the Oklahoma Committee to Prevent Child Abuse. 

Loving is the author of “The Southwestern Bell Case: Policy, Politics or Lawmaking Gone Awry,” Oklahoma City University Law Review, fall 1994. Loving is named in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Politics, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the Southwest, and Who’s Who in American Women.
